Tadong is a village about 9 km away from Gangtok on the national highway connecting Gangtok to Siliguri, in West Bengal. It is fast developing as a town since Gangtok is becoming more congested and crowded. Holy Cross convent and school is situated along the national highway. It was established in the year, 1985. Besides the mission of education, initially Holy Cross sisters reached out to the people of the locality through medical care. Later on patients’ number declined since other medical facilities developed in the area, the dispensary had to be closed down. At present 05 sisters are engaged in the mission of education, along with around 90 staff members. The school which began with 18 students has now a total of 2506 students from classes nursery to 12.
