Dalkhola is a village in the district of Uttar Dinajpur, in the state of West Bengal. It has a mixed cultural background which consists of Santal, Muslims, Hindus, and other scheduled castes and tribes. Most of the local residents are refugees from Bangladesh. People of the village are poor farmers and daily wage earners.
Holy Cross community was founded in the year 2003 on 15th February with sole aim of educating the local population. Holy cross sisters established 2 schools co- education schools, English and Bangla medium respectively. The English medium school was later on affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education and the Bangla medium school had to be closed down as the Jesuits established a Bangla medium school very close to the Holy Cross school.
The school is heading towards excellence in spite of countless odds. At present the school caters to around 1000 students.
There are six sisters involved in the education and other ministries.
