Balipara is a village in the district of Sonitpur, in the state of Assam, within the diocese of Tezpur. The village is inhabited by economically backward and socially neglected people. It is a community that lost its identity, a people marginalized and the so called ‘outcastes’.
Holy Cross community at Balipara was founded on 8th December, 2000 on the invitation of the then bishop of Tezpur, Rt. Rev. Bishop Robert Kerketta to work in collaboration with the Jesuits of Ranchi Province, in Education, Health care and upliftment of the displaced Adivasi tribal of the tea garden laborers in Assam.
At present there are 03 sisters engaged in various missions.
