A community at Siliguri was begun on 10 January, 1984. Sisters Frances Cherian and Shenila Padannamackal were the pioneers. It was begun as a transit house for the sisters who came to Siliguri for the various works.

At the request of late Rt. Rev. Bishop Eric Benjamin, the then bishop of Darjeeling diocese, a dispensary was opened in January 1984 in a house called CHIP (Child Health Improvement Project). Later on the house and the 33 decimal land around it was purchased from bishop by the Holy Cross sisters.  As the house needed more rooms a new building was constructed. The old building was converted into a hostel for tribal girls. Later on the old house was demolished and a new dispensary and hostel. The dispensary and hostel continue to serve the people of the locality.

For greater apostolic effectiveness, better administration India East province was erected in 2019 and the Holy Cross Convent, Pradhan Nagar, Siliguri became the headquarters of the province.

At present there are 18 sisters reside in the Provincial House community.
